sk8yeg playlist #1: “Dance Dance Dance” by Curtis Pollard
For the inaugural sk8yeg playlist, I knew that I needed to ask someone who could create a vision and execute it in a tight fashion, and within the team, I knew Curtis could pull it off. I gave him very little direction for this project, just to see what he would come up with.
Curt is an extraordinary artist in many disciplines. He’s a talented painter and photographer, where he tends to capture mundane, disposable objects and fleeting moments and eternalize them whether through paint or film. I’m honoured to have someone with such breadth and depth of talent in our crew. Without further ado, here are Curt’s words about this playlist.
- Vic.
I put this playlist together with people in mind who love to dance, but also love to be in bed by 10 PM sharp. It starts off with high energy infectious melodies which are hard not to dance to. Featuring hard hitting bangers from Mother herself and NIN. Then the back half gets into some New Wave and Dream Pop gems easing you down into a trancelike state where one may dance without moving their arms (my preferred dance method while in public).
This playlist is 52 minutes long so if you start it at 9 PM, you can dance your heart out and still have time to make a cup of Sleepy Time Bear and crawl into bed on time. Whether you play this for your next dance party or while you’re alone bobbing your head in traffic, I hope you enjoy it.
