sk8yeg Montreal 2026
There’s an unexpected naivety that shows up when you plan a skatetrip in your late twenties. You book a nine day trip and you envision yourself skating for six hours a day for at least eight of those days, as if on Friday afternoon you’re going to get up from the desk you spend 40 hours a week at, and the next week you’re going to spend 40 hours getting clips instead. The sk8yeg Montreal trip very quickly devolved from a “skateboarding trip to Montreal” to a “trip to Montreal with skateboarding”, and at this point in my life, I’m becoming okay with that. Everyone still got a clip!
On this trip, we were much more effective at taking photos of each other, and I’d love to share those with you now.
Film photos by Curtis, iPhone photos by Vic, Dan, Macky and Sarah
Liam getting their first clip of the trip, as filmed by Edmonton photography legend Dave Bloom, who got the actual first clip of the trip.
Macky and Cute Spongebob at Peace Park
Dan toweling off after clipping up at Peace Park.
We spent quite a bit of time at Peace Park, partially because the Etnies team showed up.
Even with pro skaters among us, Keith was by far the most productive skater at Peace Park that day.
The Etnies team wasn’t the only reason we spent so much time here though. Liam and I spent a lot of time working on a three-piece.
Moving on, here’s Dan probably saying something really important while waiting for the train.
Having a well deserved smoke break at Van Horne skatepark.
Me and Thea getting portraits from Curt near Van Horne.
Dan fully placing his back wheels into the death box at the Big O. He made it out alive like it was nothing.
Yeah, who cares, we’re gonna leak a second trick that Andy Anderson did in Montreal that week.
If you have an OPUS card (bus pass) and a Bixi subscription (bike sharing) you can get pretty much anywhere you want in Montreal quite easily. We were regularly running a pack of five or six of us in the bike lane at a time.
Cute Spongebob at La Fontaine skatepark.
Here we are indulging in some vices before hiking up Mount Royal. We spent some time debating if it would be a difficult hike considering it was a “mountain” in the city of Montreal.
V, Sarah, Vic, Macky and Dan at the top of Mount Royal. It was harder to get there than we expected. Dan and I counted the stairs and got 542 and 540, respectively.
Making sure that Curt and V got their photo together overtop the city.
Group photo at Mount Royal! After the flash went off, Dan admitted that he tried to “sneak a blink in” before the photo.
Cute Spongebob at the top of Mount Royal.
One last one of me, Justin, and Macky.
Thanks for reading about our vacation and looking at our photos! What a blast!
You can see some of the skating we did on Curt’s channel, Nah Comply, and someday the rest will be in SK8YEG3.
